Game Dev Studio is a game development simulator. The game focuses on employees and their roles in game development. It features a lot of various gameplay mechanics including: console manufacturers that can go bankrupt, rival game companies that can become hostile towards you and attempt to steal your employees, a console market system the migration of which is affected by various factors, including the games the player makes. This is just a small glimpse into the various systems and gameplay mechanics the game has to offer.

History

The idea and inspiration for it came in August of 2015, when I was working in a game studio. After playing Game Dev Tycoon I thought to myself "hey, I really like the idea of this game, but find the execution somewhat casual". Shortly after I decided that I would make a game dev sim that I'd enjoy playing for hours upon hours. After 2.5 years of working on it, most of which was done after my day job in my spare time, I finished the game up and released it on Steam. The end result is a rather hardcore game dev sim that's highly challenging, but also just as rewarding for first time players.

Features

• Story mode and 4 additional scenarios, including randomization of various gameplay aspects at the beginning of a playthrough.
• Console manufacturer system - any manufacturer can go bankrupt and any platform they could have released will never see the light of dat.
• Console creation - once your capital is big enough, it's time to take a risk and make your own platform.
• Heavy focus on employees - each of them have skills, attributes, traits, interests, and knowledge on topics.
• Office expansion through purchase of buildings available on the map
• Full modding support via Steam Workshop - turn it into an entirely different game if you've got the patience!
• Tons of gameplay layers to unwrap in a challenging package that people have described as "addictive".
